We name everything after you
Mother Earth, Mother tongue, Mother land etc,
Is it done out of love?
Is it done out of respect?
I highly doubt it
We name it so we could get away with our violence against you,
We name it so we could shame you for your “immoral” behavior,
We name it so we could confine you
We have done this for ages
We will keep doing it for ages
We will speak of your empowerment, yet
We will try hard for your enslavement
We will speak of giving you freedom, when
We were the ones who took it away in first place
We try to own you, as if you were a material possession
We do all these, yet we pretend to celebrate you one day a year
Aren’t we men hypocrites of first order??
