What matters is the reason

Is the suffering personal

Is the suffering non-personal 

If it is the latter 

Is it for proximate ones

Is it for unknown ones

If it is the latter 

Is it for a belief

Is it for greater good

If it is the latter

Is the self retained

Is the self sacrificed

If it is the latter 

Was it for legacy 

Was it for here & now?
