Hard to break barriers

One doesn’t know about

Harder to break barriers

One knows well about

Those one built oneself

Over many years 

Knowingly sometimes

Unknowingly other times

Influenced by million factors

All slicing the self

By thousand cuts 

Forcing one build barriers

To protect what’s left

Of the desperate self

Only to realize barriers

Don’t protect but imprison
