To not face the real world

People hide behind customs

To not face their doubts

People hide behind dogmas

To not face the changes

People hide behind niceties

To not face others’ ugly minds

People hide behind work

To not face the prevailing bleakness

People hide behind lives

To not face their eventual demise

People hide behind themselves

To not face their true cruel selves
