Death of a tree

It was a strange feeling

To witness the death of a tree

There it was a standing giant

An Abode for birds and

A companion for lonely souls

Reminding one of his insignificance

By its mere existence

Out of the blue came

Men with power axe

Chopping the tree down

Making the birds refugees

Taking away the last solace of

The lonely souls

Does this make those men

More powerful than the tree?

Or does it merely reiterate the

Insignificant Human’s reckless desire to

Rule over nature?
