You can abstain only when you’ve freedom
You know your abstinence has no untoward consequences
To abstain is a privilege that not all have
To equate abstinence with lack of freedom is disingenuous
What about abstaining from speaking out or taking actions
Is it also freedom, one might ask
It is the fear of losing the freedom that one has
One chooses to abstain because one’s afraid of losing the freedom
A wealthy kid living a poor life for a year
Is not the same as a poor kid living his/her life
A healthy person fasting for days on end
Is not the same as a hungry person going days on end without food
A self imposed solitude from society
Is not the same as solitary confinement
A conscious person choosing not to speak truth to power
Is not the same as someone who has no right to speak

Senior, a gambler cheating on cards cannot equivalent to someone committing a cold blooded murder. One is a petty crime while other is an heinous one.
