One should find it problematic when there are crimes committed against women, some of the commentators address the victims as sisters/mothers/daughters first before asking for justice. Why should you feel the need to do so? Won’t your heart bleed if they are not your sister/mother/daughter?. By doing so, ain’t you saying, though inadvertently, that you need to establish a relation with victims for you to feel their pain and suffering? Why not see them as fellow humans against whom crimes are perpetrated? Stop doing this relationship bullshit.
One should find it problematic when commentators portray the goodness of oppressed communities towards oppressors to indicate why one shouldn’t oppress others. We’re living in an age of democracy when every citizen should be treated equally regardless of whether one does good to others or not (to state the obvious : as long as one doesn’t commit wrong doings). This seems to create a precondition that one(oppressed) should do good, for them to be treated with equally and with dignity. Stop doing this goodness meter bullshit.
One should find it problematic in an age of democracy that some well meaning commentators praising leaders for talking about King’s principles towards his subjects and how a ruler (highly problematic again) should treat all his citizen equally. We are not subjects anymore and there are no kings or rulers now. That’s the beauty of democracy (at least in theory). Stop doing this hagiography bullshit.
One should find it problematic that kids are conditioned to grow up with same thinking as their parents’. This is something one should strictly resist. One couldn’t put it in better words than what Khalil Gibran does,
“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday”
Stop conditioning your children!!
Good one, senior…. Quite contemporary…. And poetic too… In socialist lexicon, mother, sister and brother has much deeper meaning, than merely that of family relationships. Brother and sister is Class brother and class sister, who is as equal as you and oppressed by a common class enemy, the bourgeiosie… As always, we agree to disagree… That has got nothing to do with our political leanings… Just i got to explain this because in today’s world like yesterday’s too children are conditioned to be slaves of system in all phases of life, economical, political and social and in addition we don’t denigrate psychological too. Also, we don’t counterpose one to other…
